With the
amounting stress of first semester senior year, I've been having to cram
like it's my job. For some necessary relaxation, I visited the L.A.
County Museum of Art (LACMA, for short) for my English Mirror Themes
class with my incredibly awesome and down-to-earth friends, Jacky and
Alison! For those of you who don't know this particular museum, it's absolutely breathtaking. ( Look for yourself! :D )
Pants: Anthropologie
Moccasins: Minnetonka
Crossbody bag: Nicole Lee (my mom's company)
Top: Forever 21
Jacket: Forever 21
Gloves: Hand-knit by my aunt!
Last
year, I visited the Lacma for my art class to see the Tim Burton
exhibit which was the absolute perfect synthesis of dark eeriness and
child-friendly humor. This time, I went to see Carravagio's paintings
which highly excited me because of his grim and demented personality.
Overall, Lacma included a range of art pieces from black and white
life-size landscape photos to rows of plaster cylinders (5th picture).
After
strolling through the Carravagio exhibit, me and Jacky whipped out our
iPhones and my touristy lets-take-pictures-of-everything side definitely
came out. Alison, on the other hand, took out her oh-so nifty polaroid
camera that I'm blatantly envious of to take some "candid" shots. After
slyly analyzing the bizarre yet creative poses we spotted in the
corners of our eyes with the rows of lamp posts, we decided to try and
imitate them. As you can see, I ended up making a complete fool of
myself and leaving with some bruises.
Once
we left, we went to Old Town Pasadena and bolted to any closed doors
for warmth (well at least I did!) which included Islands, Crossroads
Thrift Shop, and Forever 21. Looking around F21, I noticed that there
was a plethora of pastels. One of the many aspects I noticed about F21
was that the colors in the store, amid the seasonal changes, are always
pale mint, cream, and a blush pink. I also noticed all the
embellishments that were featured throughout the store which included
scattered pearls and diamonds on sweaters or concentrated areas of focus
on tips of collars.
Have you noticed any store trends? (:
